Whats a Desktop Deal:

There are many factors you need to take into account in order to make something a deal. Manufacturer, Product line, Specs and warranty are usually what to look at when figuring that out. You need to consider prices as well, sometimes you get a price so hot that it doesn't matter what company it is.

Generally speaking here are the guidelines for Intel processors:

i3 8th Gen processor - Under $300 is usually a hot deal, Under $350 is decent
i5 8th Gen Processor - Under $400 is a Usually a Hot Deal
i7 8th Gen Processor - Under $600 is a Usually Hot Deal

to be continued....

Seems like a pretty good deal. The only things I don't like about this is 1)1sale.com often takes weeks or even months to ship and 2)it doesn't say who supports the warranty.

Old model, really not worthwhile IMO.
I throw out machines with similar processors all the time..

If you're saying that faster processor will affect multiple browsers/tabs and THAT'S the spec I need to look into for the above mentioned usage than I guess that's what I'll get...
I understood that fast processor will not affect that kind of usage.
Speed after some time is also an extremely important issue.
IME SSD and RAM is a bigger factor for multiple tabs/browsers than proc

DH - What happened to Dell's website?  I went on for the first time in a few years, to help a friend find a new desktop.  You used to be able to configure almost any component for almost any model.  Now you have almost zero options.  What gives?

True but processor is the one component you have a hard time upgrading later...

Most models have preconfigured options, makes it easier to ship quickly. The Business models usually have more options..

My processor is a 2.4GHz with a "Max Turbo 3.4GHz"..
Is this "max turbo" the real deal as if I had a real 3.4 or not really?

Also true, and the line I would use years ago.  But are people really upgrading so much nowadays?  It used to be desktops could easily last 7+ years.  They seem more disposable nowadays.

eta - on that note, my desktop is 8+ years, and my laptop 7+

What do you think of this one?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883266055&leaderboard=1

It must be able to have dual screen setup. On amazon I found a picture of the back of this computer (however that one is an i3) and it showed both VGA and HDMI. It specifies here it has HDMI. I'm assuming it will have both. Please correct me if I'm wrong...

I think DH can hook you up with much better specs for that price. Also for dual screens you might have better results buying a dual HDMI video cards for ~$20

For graphics I would say it's necessary. However I have the whole office here on VGA + HDMI setup and I haven't heard any complaints as its really used for multiple browser windows and that's it.

I most certainly can...

VGA and HDMI are sufficient most of the time.
