Whats a Desktop Deal:

There are many factors you need to take into account in order to make something a deal. Manufacturer, Product line, Specs and warranty are usually what to look at when figuring that out. You need to consider prices as well, sometimes you get a price so hot that it doesn't matter what company it is.

Generally speaking here are the guidelines for Intel processors:

i3 8th Gen processor - Under $300 is usually a hot deal, Under $350 is decent
i5 8th Gen Processor - Under $400 is a Usually a Hot Deal
i7 8th Gen Processor - Under $600 is a Usually Hot Deal

to be continued....

I have the Dell Optiplex 3020 in stock with Windows 7, i5 processor and 3 year warranty. PM if you're interested - I'm in Brooklyn. If that doesn't work for you I'll see what else I can find you.

I use an Optiplex 790 at work.  Are they comparable?  Please send me details/cost.  I'm sure I can always find someone to bring it down to Baltimore.  Thanks.

Staples has a $150 off $499 Coupon which can be applied to many systems. Here's an example if you want 2 really cheap desktops.

2 x Dell Inspiron 3646 - $349
Use Coupon: 62638

These are cheap low end Celeron systems but can be used to connect to TV or other simple tasks.

Add 2 of them to cart to be eligible for the coupon.

Pc I bought in December 2007 is having issues, getting BSOD, restarting etc. I reinstalled windows a couple weeks ago but it didnt really help, but Currently have:
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad processor Q6600 (2.4GHz) 6 gb of ddr2 ram. Had 8 but one dim went bad. It came with 2gb and I upgraded it. Got it in 11 of 2007 with Vista and someone at work have me windows 7 pro 64bit.
User mostly for movies and TV and some word processing or spreadsheets over citrix.
What specs would i be looking for and any good deals out now? Perhaps wait till balck friday? Costco?

Try replacing the hard drive with a ssd. For your requirements you may still be OK with this system once you get it up and running.

Many ssd include some type of closing software. Norton ghost, acronis and some others are pretty easy to use.
