If i apply for a credit increase and they deny me, does that hurt my account in any way?

It shouldn't hurt your account, the worst it can do is bring up a hard pull on your credit report which isn't the end of the world...

Ask them to do a soft pull credit check

it means that they won't be viewing your credit in anyway that will harm you (it won't be listed as a hard pull which temporarily can effect your credit score...) do a search on it for more info

If you are talking about Amex go online, log in to your account and they have an increase button right there. I've done it several times never got rejected.

Give me some more info. How much do you spend monthly? Do you pay your bill on time? What's your current limit?

You can apply for another AMEX (such as the Starwood business, which won't affect your personal credit score) and then reallocate the credit lines between the cards.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I would sit tight for a few months and then request to increase your limit. If you're close to you limit in any given month, call AMEX they might give you exceptions to go over your limit

I can just make up any name for my "business"?

If you've ever sold an item on ebay you have a business.
You just leave the tax ID field blank, and create a business name for yourself.
This has no effect on an F/R.

Why not just use your own name and select "sole proprietor".

Your social is required so they can know if you are creditworthy or not, your credit score wont be affected by applying/canceling.
