IMO, he's missing that El-Al is a ISRAELI company, not necessarily a JEWISH company.
El-Al shares are traded publicly.
maybe when he was talking about brother sister business, he meant even if the brothers company trades shares. No?

But which non-Jews would bother investing? (according to Wikipedia) more than 51% is shared between an Israeli (private equity?) fund, the Israeli government, and the El Al workers union.

@ jewda, I strongly condemn your chuzpa. He is a talmid chochem and your comment shows a total lack of respect

I heard a shiur on dine de malchuse dine and in this case its not "noigea" as you are making a deal with a fellow "jew", so if you have a issue then you have to go to bes din. Bes din has to decide it and not the dot.
Dine de malchuse dine is for example were we jews make a kinyan a certain way, so by clicking on this button we also make a kinyan, as this is a binding contract according to U.S regulations

I dont think it was 100% yashrus what happened, but everyone is happy about the deal, so I will not start...but please dont fool yourself, that it could have been a sale and you didnt know it was a mistake, Elal is not loosing thats B.S.
around purin, new year and chanuka flights are almost full so its forsure a grome...

You obviously didn't even bother to read this

Feel free to agree or disagree with your reasoning.

I will say that he seems to be lacking in some fundamental concepts.  Please show me how this loss of "millions upon millions of dollars" occurred.  Make for great headlines but it's a total farce IMHO.

-20% of airline seats go out empty.
-The incremental cost of flying someone is close to nil.
-Most people flying on this deal to TLV would otherwise would not be flying.
-Most people are paying an extra $150 to fly nonstop, on top of a ticket that cost $330-$530 round trip.  Hardly the stuff that losses are made of.
-If El Al wanted they could take out ad in jewish papers not to violate onaah.  Instead they are happily honoring the tickets and telling people who call not to cancel because they feel bad.
-The value of the PR they received with news coverage of the deal.

Anyway if an airline has a fare sale greater than 17% off I guess I'm not allowed to talk about it anymore.  Forget the fact that we're dealing with an industry that often has fare sales making the price of a ticket half off.

I dont see why R Marburger couldnt have given a shiur on the halacha of such a situation without bringing direct criticism of Dan into it.  I respect the Rav (although I personally dont know who he is) but it just seems wrong to present his psak of the Halacha in this manner.

It is one thing to discuss whether his Psak is right or wrong, or if he mishandled it on a number of levels by not contacting Dan before speaking about it publicly.
It is another thing entirely to speak about him like a menuvel.

I did and just disagree to most

Everyone knew the deal will be cancelled soon as it was a mistake and rushed to book...
It costs them to transport you, some seats would have gone empty alot wouldnt, thats a grome
Just because they make 150 on a change they are not making money on it
Elal was forced to accept it because of dot regulations and pr, that does not mean its not a grome

Whatever, you can come up with excuses until tomorrow, if it makes you feel better go for it. I also sometimes get on deals that are not 100% yashrus, but at least I dont fool myself for being right

The question was, if it was the right thing to do and twitter it...I will not pasken, but lets just say a jewish company lost alot of $ because of it, so you decide yourself

I am not attacking Dan, he meant it well, but looking back at it a few weeks later, we can argue about the yashrus part, if it was the "jidische" way of dealing with a jewish persons mistake

Just some food for thought (from someone who actually got in on the deal - for someone else): I don't think there is any way that I would do this in person, i.e. if a local judaica store had a price mistake which they were legally bound to honor, I don't think there is any way that I could look the guy in the eye and pay him a fraction of the going price.

True. But he shouldnt even speak on the topic without knowing the entire story of how the industry works. He could have asked Dan about that and then bashed him if he felt it was warranted

IMHO everyone acted in the heat of the moment. It was a deal that was too good to pass up. I speak for myself but I believe many people would have thought twice had they been well versed on the halachic issues. That said I totally agree with Dan that in this case it's very likely that they didn't end up losing anything at all (heck, i spent 1700 for 2 Adults and an infant). However I will bli neder try not to buy a price mistake from elal in the future.

What about the first part of his sentence agreeing that you sound like a menuval
