Bringing a barbecue grill through IL customs
« on: August 20, 2012, 02:55:55 AM »
In a recent conversation with dealer, he suggested purchasing a barbecue grill (the kind with wheels and a propane tank) in the USA, and bringing it in its box (disassembled, of course) to Israel as a piece of luggage. (Without a propane tank, obviously.)

Just wondering... Will that cause any issues for me, customs-wise? If they see me strolling through the Green Lane with a box identifying its contentents as a grill, are they more likely to stop me? I really can't afford to get stopped...

IME, they are much more likely to stop people with boxes. Pack it in a suitcase

You mean remove the contents from the box, and place them into a suitcase? Or place the entire box as-is into a suitcase?

either or. Probably easier to unpack it from the box. For good measure u could remove all the parts from the indiviual packaging and maybe rub some dirt on it so it doesn't appear new

Thanks, guys. Random question: should I get a propane grill, or a natural gas grill? Or is there no difference?

You should get a charcoal grill like the "Weber one touch gold", no mess and food tastes AMAZING!
