So I already have Sapphire, Hyatt, Amtrak and Slate and I want to get the Freedom to link the the checking account.
Do I convert the Amtrak to a Freedom or try for a new application? I'm not so sure they will allow a 5th card. 2 of these cards were recently opened further killing my odds of another approval.

How recently did you apply for your last card?

If it was more than 30 days ago I'd apply for the Freedom and have them close down the Amtrak if needed to get the Freedom approved.

I've already used that method (calling reconsideration) to get the Hyatt and Sapphire approved. Am I pushing my luck with a 3rd reconsideration call?

Not at all. Just as long as it's been 30 days since your last application.
