Sheraton "Going Green" Incentive
« on: August 21, 2012, 01:52:37 PM »
I didn't notice any mention of this program on the forums, so excuse me if it's been mentioned already.

I recently stayed at the Sheraton Inner Harbor in Baltimore for 4 nights.  Since it was very booked the only room they could give me was on the Club floor for 11k points per night (this is exactly what I wanted anyways!)

After check-in I noticed a little card in the room that said that if I refused maid service I would get $5 credit toward spending in the hotel for each day I refused service.  And if not used in the hotel, these little cards can be turned in for 500 starpoints upon checkout.  They do not count the day you check out so I earned 1500 starpoints for refusing maid service (which I would have done anyways).

Many hotels try to cut down on maid service with the excuse (אמתלא) of trying to be green, they're really just trying to cut expenses so they make more $$$.

I figured as much.  But I'm happy to pocket 1500 points for something I would have done either way.

I do that at all SPG hotels. I got lots of points like that.
