Those $3/day plans are great for visitors, I keep a bunch of SIMs and just hand em out as needed.

Like everyone said above, they cost money if you pick them up locally.

Additionally, I find it considerably easier to have 2 of these waiting for us in my parents' house together with the rest of my mail when I land from Israel, rather than having to go out and find a store that has them.
