Received my card today!  :D
It's called AMEX Blue. (dunno what that means)

Can you tell us, which bank and is there an annual fee? Other details?

TIA!

It's Bank Hapoalim, AFAIK no annual fee (as I'm a student).

It doesn't matter at all. You won't get a significant number of points either way.

In fact, you're better off choosing a card for the discounts (like Bank Discount's card that offers a few percent off for all sorts of things), or a discount on gas, etc., than for the points.

Bank Hapoalim also has such an offer. http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=21984

I'm personally very happy with Hapoalim.

I'd like to open an Israeli CC for a few various things its needed for (Golan for instance)

What's the best one to go with?
And yes I am aware there aren't any good offers. Just wondering what's the least awful one out there?
TIA

ask your bank for one with no fees, if they'll give you one.

Try to avoid getting Israeli CC if possible. It was a pain in the neck to close my account before I left. Also look for no monthly fees, I got one from bank discount with no fees bec I was a student with a salary coming in every month.

Israeli CC deals?
« Reply #55 on: September 30, 2013, 06:03:51 PM »
Anyone know and can share, here or PM, what is the deal with Israeli CC's? I am not talking about signup bonus lackage  :-X but I get the feeling there is some way to get good cash or points back for purchases. Some ppl use their CC to pay for large bills and somehow gain from it. Obviously, I am not talking about the galgal hachozer of gilgulim  :o, Hashem Yishmor! I asked someone who said something about 10% but he could not give me more info, it was for his friend...

TIA!

Get a US card with no FX fees (e.g. Chase Sapphire Preferred), will beat any Israeli points card.

Many cards have built in discounts w/ various retailers which will show up automatically on your stmt.
For example, my Bank Discount card has Kimat Chinam w/ a 3.5% discount on their list of 'partners'. Other retailers have a higher CB percentage.

Thanks Mod for moving the post.

I heard this guy talking about using his card to pay the shul's electric bill. Anyone have details? PM if necessary? Paging BISPRO...

I use the Sapphire Preferred except for today by mistake swiped my Slate instead. Whoops! I went back to Yesh (it was a big shopping) and the tried to cancel the charge and put it on the SP but it did not work. May have to do with the "NO REFUND-NO CANCELLATION" on the receipt. IDK what is up with that. I used SP afterwards and it does not say that.

Thanks!

Agav, sale on Corn Flakes at Yesh, 10 shekel for 500 gram box of Telma Corn Flakes. Limited to 6 per purchase (unpublished data point).
