Don'ts
gym membership:Don't buy your wife a gym membership or any work out device. Ever. Like ever ever. Even if she asks or begs for it.
Drug store candy: If you are going to go and buy her some sort of dessert, don't bother going to your local CVS or Walmart for that if you don't intend to get yelled at.
Items that need fixing in the house: Don't buy your wife a washing machine, dish washer, vacuum cleaner bc its needed in the house. Would you have not gotten it if it wasn't her birthday around the corner?
Call your wife female spouse.

Do's

Call her Female Spouse. The capital letters make all the difference.

I wouldn't try it as the Fire is Gel based and probably chemical.

but its a simple Google Gel fire question
I meant, would it mess up the fireplace if the melted marshmallow landed on it? But, good question about gel/sterno safety to eat. Thanks -- So i looked it up online found the answer:

Certain types look safe for s'mores. Quote:
"After contacting Sterno with the same question, they indicated that the only safe gel product for direct food heating is marked “ethanol” on the canister. Those marked “methanol” are not meant for direct food heating."

Nespresso machine is a great gift if she likes coffee/ cappuccinos etc, though you are then locking yourself into expensive capsules

If you like coffee a nice machine could be a gift IMO.  But go with a Nespresso at the very least.

Mani/pedi is a great to to gift anyone you can't think of anything else.

It's to them like a bottle of scotch to us, always appreciated, can't have too many.

Unless you drink bourbon in which case you don't deserve said scotch.
