I plan on bringing meat from home to bbq there. Do you think I should bring a small bbq and charcoal from home or would be able to buy one there (maybe at supermarket)?

There's no question that I'll miss Hawaii; essentially I'm trying to get the closest thing to it in the Caribbean. STJ, with its lush mountains and phenomenal snorkeling, seemed to be the best idea.

As far as photography, from the bit of research I've done STJ sounds like a great place. Mountains, islands, charming towns...

You'll like it there -- and there are frequent boat trips to and from St Thomas each day. It's super quiet and exclusive. You can have your own mile of beach if you want -- that's what we did.

Don't know for sure but I think you would be able to find grills and charcoal. Expect to pay a lot more than you're used to though. Maybe best to bring the grill and plan to buy charcoal there to save on schlepping.

I'm looking for a Sunday through Thursday trip from 8/2 to 8/6.... I'm looking for a private house with a private pool looking to spend up to $300 a night... Preferably a place with an easy flight... (I'm now traveling with my son also...) I'm wondering if anyone has had a great experience on a island and would like to share?

I went the past year to STX... We had an amazing time was gorgeous had everything we wanted

And for any idea for flights... I got pretty much all mainstream miles and plenty of them if its worth over paying cash... Nothing that I saw was worth the mileage over cash...

Has anyone here stayed at the Westin in St. Johns? I am booked in a resort room as the villas were sold out. Trying to see how complicated it would be to spend Shabbos there as I booked it for 5 nights for the best value.

I spoke to the resort about heating up our food and they said they won't do it (I can always try another agent or the manager) however they can rent out a microwave for 25 dollars a day. Wouldn't help much of course.

I went to Eleuthera, an island off of Nassau, for our honeymoon for 7 days. Stayed at a private villa with private pool and beachfront prop. Very nice. Had to stop in FLL on the way for connection but the commute wasn't bad.

nice. The private pool was just for your own villa? Was the beachfront prop also private, or shared? Looking for that -- Which hotel?

It's actually an estate that is owned privately by a US resident. I found it on VRBO, had a good time there - pm me for more info.

AFAIK there are no kosher resorts in the carribean

st thomas isn't a resort, but it has a minyan every shabbos, and twice weekly... some minyanim in St. Maarten, as well?

Has anyone stayed in the Westin in St Maarten? Did they respect status of SPG? Do they have suites to upgrade to? I have platinum 75 stays.. I need to stay there for a night till my house is avail.
