IMO, I enjoyed Barbados the most of all the islands I visited. As am sure you know, there is limited to do outside of water “activities “ in the islands.

Puerto Rico had the best food so you wouldn’t have to bring anything.
What did you enjoy about Barbados more than other islands?

Cancun literally on the Caribbean sea...but water not as nice as your average carribbean island
The peninsula cuts the border of the gulf of Mexico and Caribbean sea.

If we're going to be extremely technical, it's part of the Yucatan Channel.

Tropical forecasts are completely unreliable unless a big storm is coming in.

Weather-wise, for mid July, what is the best island just to relax and enjoy the sun/water?

It's hurricane season, so safest bet is one of the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao) as they lie out of the hurricane belt.

Sunscreen - Did a week there and was surprised how strong sun was even on cloudy days.

Nighttime activities - I found overall it lacks options.

Aruba tends to be windy so you don't realize and will burn. Use plenty of sunscreen.

I'm (figuratively) forever scarred from making this mistake in Hawaii. I also wear uv shirts most of the time now when at the beach.

The Rennisance Aruba is a gold mine of a bonvoy redemption. 35k off peak (so counts for CC nights). No resort fee. With silver I was able to get a 1 category room upgrade. Nightly rates right now are otherwise going for about 650/night.

The hotel is so-so. Nice, but not over the top. Rooms are on the smaller side in the adults only tower. But the private island beach is worth the price of admission alone especially after it clears out for the day.

Better option than stellaris?

Not sure. Stelaris for sure has more at the property vs Renaissance which has the private island. However, Stelaris is a cat 6 so no CC certs.

Basically, they take you out on a 5 minute boat ride to their private island, which has a 2 beaches (adults only and families), non motorized water sports, spa, and a couple of bars.

All the non motorized sports are free, though they won't let us take kayaks and paddle boards today due to the winds.

Water is basically clear and they've built a protected swimming area in the ocean as the winds are crazy and swimming would otherwise be dangerous.

My friend used his 7 night cert here and had very good things to say about the private island but was not too impressed with the actual hotel. Also said most of the guests there were a lot older which was a bit strange, he's in early 30s
