Rebooking an airline ticket
« on: August 25, 2012, 03:09:04 PM »
I booked a round trip ticket in Dec. last year with United (Star Allaince) and I want to change the return date to a date past a year from the booking. One of the United agents did rebook the ticket for the date I wanted and I even got a confirmation number for the flight. But since the ticked was modified, I received a message that I have to contact United to reissue the ticket. I then called back a few times but no agent was willing to reissue the ticket because it was more than a year....
Does anyone know of a way to get United to reissue the ticket?

Airlines usually do not allow a ticket to be issued more than a year in advance.

the issue is not that he is rebooking for a year from now, the issue is that he rebooked for over a year from the date of it being issued in the first place. Airline rules wont allow more than 12 months... weird the agent even processed that. I wouldn't even venture to say YMMV...but hey you never know.

HUCA?

Eventually, you may find someone with a low enough IQ to do it for you.

Agents do all sorts of things. Get one that doesn't check the fare rules or care that much and the sky is the limit for you.  :)

What shaycwhat shaychus???

I have been working on your ticket. I got them to reissue the ticket today. If you look at the receipt you will see the issue date being today. Now you can try calling them back and fixing your ticket and getting it reissued. Good luck
