Well this is a game changer!! Now they're going to go after Google!
While many are saying we will now see more innovation and creativity, it's a huge step back now that they are upholding/enforcing Apples monopoly.

From Samsung's statement: "It is unfortunate that patent law can be manipulated to give one company a monopoly over rectangles with rounded corners."

I'm sitting in a Starbucks doing random whatever over an iced americano. While I waiting for my drink, I watched a guy with his friend, pick up a newspaper; and start to remark on the Samsung Apple verdict.
Guy: "Wait, so what they're saying is, Samsung is the same as Apple?"
Friend: "I know, right? Makes me think twice about how much I paid for my Mac Book"
Guy: "Seriously"
Not 10 minutes later, a husband and wife, same newspaper:
Husband: "... Samsung's iPad is the same as Apple's iPad, and I paid how much for the Apple one? Honey, I told you they were a ripoff", after looking up the Samsung tablet on his iPhone.
Wife: "Oh wow," looking at the screen, "... that's a lot cheaper. Think we can return it?"
I put my Samsung QX410 on my table, and started to plug in, when he leans over to me, "Sorry, you don't mind if I ask, how much did you pay for your Samsung laptop?"
"Oh, no worries, it was $700." I replied.
I watched shock overcome his face, like actual shock. He looked at me, blankly, for an awkward amount of time, "Mind if I have a look?" he asked.
So, I obliged, and showed him a few things. He commented on Windows 7, so I opened up my virtual machine of OS/X... By the time the conversation was over, he was ready to kick Cupertino in the nuts, I think.
... Now, the punchline:
I'm writing this post after the FOURTH group of Starbucks patrons have made the connection that Samsung is now the same as Apple. They don't know the details, they don't really care, what they know is Apple is saying that Samsung is the same as Apple ... and with one simple Google Search, you get prices that are basically half for what seems to be the same products -- for nearly everything.
Two of these groups (including the husband/wife) asked me about my Samsung laptop, the second group noticed my Galaxy phone (also by Samsung)... Best billion dollar ad-campaign Samsung ever had.

A judge will decide soon about that but they will definitely have to make software changes and change the way they make future devices.

The way I see it is that all this is one big game for them and the one who stands to lose is the consumer. Obviously Android took ideas from Apple and Apple took ideas from Android. One example stands out being the notification bar. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to see that Apple ripped it of Android in iOS 5. So why is Android losing the legal war? Because they're not as savvy as Apple when it comes to patenting their ideas. Google/Android applied for a patent for the notification bar in 09 but has yet to be approved. Let's hope they get it approved and Apple will get a taste of their own medicine.

It's not necessarily true that android stole patents from Apple there are loads of patents that Apple stole from android one example is the notification on the screen that android didn't get the patent approved yet

As this article explains, it would take over 2700 trucks to deliver, Apple would be able to refuse that method of payment, and the money isn't due yet.

The story actually originated on El Deforma, described (by many) as "an Onion-like Mexican website" - that is, specialising in fake news.
The site has a "tip of the day", which on Wednesday had the advice: "Si vas a plagiar noticias, no uses un sitio de noticias falsas como fuente." Or In English: "If you're going to steal news, make sure not to use a fake news site as a source."
