They will charge you a late fee (but you often can get it waived) but it won't be reported to your credit report until its thirty days part due

Amex Gold due date is not the actual due date, its a "suggested" date. As long as the card is paid before the next statement then you are considered paid on time.

If you did actually pay late and its the first time they usually will credit back the late fee and interest and remove the late note from your history (at least IME)
