Please guys, any experience with prepaid credit cards?

Is there a way that I can get on a made up name?

Maybe I'm missing something, but in the US you can by prepaid cc at most supermarkets without any names. You can also buy them online (gift cards) where "you" purchase them but the issued cc doesn't have to be in someones name.

How do those supermarkt ones work? If I want to pay airline taxes over the phone, they will ask for card number, expiry, and cvc + card holders name.
What name shows on those?

I looked a bit online at people comments, and it seems like there are loads of hazards one may encounter using those prepaid ones, please people who ha e used it before....??

I don't know what you put in for the name. Look at the american express website for gift cards & call them to ask. One thing you need to look out for is that some people sell restricted cards (that you can only spend at certain stores & then there's no or a minimun surcharge when you purchase the card)

I once used a prepaid card to buy an ipod online at the apple store, it went well, but i think i do remember having to register my real name online through the card provider....
