no issues transferring ba to iberia however, if you have a ba household account, you wont, i repeat, you WONT be able to transfer iberia into ba. you will need to remove all household members in order to transfer from iberia to ba. no word on aer lingus

And can it be freely transferred back to BA (instantly) if need be?

yes but you can not transfer back to BA if BA account is household. you must first remove any household members in order to transfer from IB to BA
