Barclay reconsideration line: 866-408-4064, Mon-Fri 8AM - 5PM EST.
The 24-hour number is 866-408-4064
New 24 hour number is 866-205-5973
you can finally fax documents to Barclays the number is 866-836-6959

Based on the phone reps, an application usually remains in the system for 90 days, during which you can ask for a reconsideration.
However, if 30 days have passed, it will incur another hard pull.

There have been a few reports of Barclay pulling credit again when reconsidering - even when specifically asked not to.
Make sure to explicitly tell the rep that you don't want another credit pull. The benefit of such action would be that if later you see they did pull your credit you can call up and speak to a manager and have the pulls removed (based on first-hand accounts from this thread).

If you want to guarantee that you don't get another pull, freeze your credit report.

While Barclay recon reps are usually very tough to deal with, there have been sporadic reports of them reconsidering by reallocating credit-line from other cards. Additionally, there are a few reports indicating success with the 3BM.
Personal and biz didn't combine

Barclay recon reps take notes of each phone call and subsequent reps usually regurgitate the previous rep's reply.

Barclays has a 6/24 rule similar to chase 5/24. Not hardcoded like chase though.

Barclays is tough.

What do you guys think of my strategy . I was told they denied me second card because
I did not spend enough. Have been spending regularly and will apply
for second card soon .

If recon says no, should I tell them put me thru to retentions cause I want to cancel
Existing card because I thnk they are an unreasonable issuer . Crazy no !

It's worth a shot. Are you actually prepared to cancel the card?

Absolutely. It has no value if Barclays is going to maintain such a policy . Another paperweight
to worry about.

Just keep in mind the reduction of overall credit on your CR.

I think they are tough and they won't be intimidated. The two reps I spoke to in recon were US based and they cross examining me. If I had handled my Chase recons with as much aplomb as I did my Barclays recon, they would have given me a 100K CL. Barclays wouldn't budge.

I suggest waiting it out until you have more history with them, and at that point you'll have more clout.

I saw one data point on this but am looking for more. Has anyone frozen Experian & Equifax to force a TU pull? I am looking for the Arrival card.

I have 6-7 pulls (new cards plus a mortgage refi) in the last year on Exp and Eq, but only the refi on TU. I have no existing cards with Barclays.  Credit and income are otherwise very good. Thoughts?

They usually pull TU regardless. Not sure about your state, though.

I am not sure it's worthwhile to put $1 K + plus per month of legit expenses on the Barclays card , for more than 3 months . Recon suggested at least 6 months , and one guy said wait one year .

Losing out on UR points, and I don't really manufacture any creative spend, have to maximize
value of my spends . Hate to go 6 months and still get turned down

Who said it has to be $1000+ per month? I personally think doing some spending on their cards is quite worth it in order to build up your rapport with them and jump on the good sign-ups that come around every once in a while. Just my two cents...

So you think the amount I spend does not matter . If so that changes my strategy . I spent over $1K
per month for the last 2 months and was thinking of applying in two weeks after spending another $1K this cycle

Apply now or too soon ?

Too soon. They take too many apps seriously and they want to see payment history with them. Try after 6 months. 3-4 transactions per month. Around $100 should be fine.

I don't get this line of boycott thinking. These banks owe us nothing.
