Barclay reconsideration line: 866-408-4064, Mon-Fri 8AM - 5PM EST.
The 24-hour number is 866-408-4064
New 24 hour number is 866-205-5973
you can finally fax documents to Barclays the number is 866-836-6959

Based on the phone reps, an application usually remains in the system for 90 days, during which you can ask for a reconsideration.
However, if 30 days have passed, it will incur another hard pull.

There have been a few reports of Barclay pulling credit again when reconsidering - even when specifically asked not to.
Make sure to explicitly tell the rep that you don't want another credit pull. The benefit of such action would be that if later you see they did pull your credit you can call up and speak to a manager and have the pulls removed (based on first-hand accounts from this thread).

If you want to guarantee that you don't get another pull, freeze your credit report.

While Barclay recon reps are usually very tough to deal with, there have been sporadic reports of them reconsidering by reallocating credit-line from other cards. Additionally, there are a few reports indicating success with the 3BM.
Personal and biz didn't combine

Barclay recon reps take notes of each phone call and subsequent reps usually regurgitate the previous rep's reply.

Barclays has a 6/24 rule similar to chase 5/24. Not hardcoded like chase though.

Success!
I finally got the Arrival card approved after 5 HUCA's. The analyst was a fellow homebrewer so after we had a long convo about beer and brewing, he approved me for the card with a 5k line.

I too had a successful recon with Barclays (closed an old card for a new one), so there may be two tzadikim, or it was the same one :)
What surprises me more than the successful recon is that HUCA worked. The reps usually just regurgitate what the previous rep said (from the notes he/she left).

Who said it has to be $1000+ per month? I personally think doing some spending on their cards is quite worth it in order to build up your rapport with them and jump on the good sign-ups that come around every once in a while. Just my two cents...

Maybe my next appo

I'm not sure exactly how long it takes to curry favor with them, but since it's a TU pull, it can't really hurt, can it?

Chase

For recon, yes. Regarding acceptance, Nobiggy's question pertains to those with short credit histories. For that, i don't think Chase is the way to go.

No reports of any luck, period. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be the canary in the gold mine...

They are tough people!

I did a 3bm for arrival/Luf/US Air

I got the arrival and called and the reluctantly they gave me the Luf.

When I pushed my luck for the US Air she said no chance!

It seems more mom and pop than the other card companies. At one point I got cut off and when I called back she said "Oh you were just speaking to jeff"

They like seeing actual usage/paying history by them.

Mom and Pop ? more like the Adams family , or the Munster family .

Same story and I got the arrival. But reconsideration wouldn't budge, wouldn't even take some credit off the arrival for one of the other 2 cards I applied.
Forget the fact they asked me a million questions.
It cost me 3 transunion pulls and 1 experian. Very disappointed.
