Barclay reconsideration line: 866-408-4064, Mon-Fri 8AM - 5PM EST.
The 24-hour number is 866-408-4064
New 24 hour number is 866-205-5973
you can finally fax documents to Barclays the number is 866-836-6959

Based on the phone reps, an application usually remains in the system for 90 days, during which you can ask for a reconsideration.
However, if 30 days have passed, it will incur another hard pull.

There have been a few reports of Barclay pulling credit again when reconsidering - even when specifically asked not to.
Make sure to explicitly tell the rep that you don't want another credit pull. The benefit of such action would be that if later you see they did pull your credit you can call up and speak to a manager and have the pulls removed (based on first-hand accounts from this thread).

If you want to guarantee that you don't get another pull, freeze your credit report.

While Barclay recon reps are usually very tough to deal with, there have been sporadic reports of them reconsidering by reallocating credit-line from other cards. Additionally, there are a few reports indicating success with the 3BM.
Personal and biz didn't combine

Barclay recon reps take notes of each phone call and subsequent reps usually regurgitate the previous rep's reply.

Barclays has a 6/24 rule similar to chase 5/24. Not hardcoded like chase though.

This is beyond weird. I recently did a 2BM with barclays, got instsant approval on 1 and pending on the second. Called recon, 3 minutes later also approved for the second.

 :o

just did a 2BM (arrival and Lufthansa) approved for arrival pending for lufthansa....also looks like 2 pulls....

so what exactly did you tell recon/ they ask you?
I plan to call them

also i remember seeing somewhere (can't fidn it now though) that if it says please wait 10 days(which mine did) vs 14 days it has a different meaning like 1 meant denial when the other amount of days meant it was actually under review...something along those lines. ideas?

I list the questions I was asked here http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=19773.msg537301#msg537301. My 2 BM also resulted in 2 pulls. With NO extra pull (as some have reported) with the call to Recon.

Tried a second Huca same sayings as in the first, and really rudely >:( (when it wouldnt of be a pull i would leave it already alone)

Is there a reson to try again? did anyone here have success only bt the 3rd time?
Is there any luck by trying to talk to a supervisor?

Some have had luck. I haven't. Supervisor regurgitated the same lines as the rep. Note that the reps are US based and very knowledgeable, so there may not be as much of a difference between supervisor and rep as at other banks.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

Will Barclays let you downgrade from the USAir to a card with no AF? I want to keep my credit history with them open.

YMMV...But I didn't have an extra pull with the call (and approval) to Recon. http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=19773.msg539493#msg539493

applied sunday for arrival and lufthansa
arrival-instant approval
lufthansa-pending called today (july 10) recon and spoek with a very nice guy named chris. he said i look to be handling my credit cards well BUT he cant issue a new product before seeing some activity on the arrival. He thanked me for offering to move some credit from the arrival to push the card through but said he cant issue a new product until there is activity. he said to apply roughly 4-6 billing cycles later when they can see there is some activity on the card.

is there a point to HUCA? from this forum seems like they'll just regurgitate what he said...

No point. It's a hard policy.

He doesn't lose anything for a few HUCA's. Stranger things have happened.

Ugh, having such a hard time here. Somehow 7+ years of credit history is very limited.

called recon 4 days later  today and  said YOU HAVE MANY INQUIRIES and YOU HAVE TOO MUCH OVER ALL CREDIT FROM ALL THE CARDS, BIGGER THAN YOUR INCOME.
I was denied  on phone twice.

I have US airways card from them since JAN and been using it and paying  before due dates and never large balance.
My uitilization  rate  from all the card is only 4%. My FAKO score is 787

They see that you opened a lot of CC in the past 12 months, so they don't wanna give you a new product, this was with me, they actually mentioned that i should use the card for 12 months

Wrong thread but has to deal with what was just mentioned.

It was mentioned that one reason they denied was because too much credit given to u.
So If one has 100k in credit and now decides to  cancel cards or ask for less credit how does that effect the credit score because if anything your utilization will go from 4% to 15% let's say which is still very good and your score will drop a few points but nothing terrible IMO.

Maybe consider that?

If you have the US Air consumer card and the US Air business card and close the accounts - can you churn them?  If so, how long should one wait after closing before reapplying?
What do you do after your dreams come true?
