Barclay reconsideration line: 866-408-4064, Mon-Fri 8AM - 5PM EST.
The 24-hour number is 866-408-4064
New 24 hour number is 866-205-5973
you can finally fax documents to Barclays the number is 866-836-6959

Based on the phone reps, an application usually remains in the system for 90 days, during which you can ask for a reconsideration.
However, if 30 days have passed, it will incur another hard pull.

There have been a few reports of Barclay pulling credit again when reconsidering - even when specifically asked not to.
Make sure to explicitly tell the rep that you don't want another credit pull. The benefit of such action would be that if later you see they did pull your credit you can call up and speak to a manager and have the pulls removed (based on first-hand accounts from this thread).

If you want to guarantee that you don't get another pull, freeze your credit report.

While Barclay recon reps are usually very tough to deal with, there have been sporadic reports of them reconsidering by reallocating credit-line from other cards. Additionally, there are a few reports indicating success with the 3BM.
Personal and biz didn't combine

Barclay recon reps take notes of each phone call and subsequent reps usually regurgitate the previous rep's reply.

Barclays has a 6/24 rule similar to chase 5/24. Not hardcoded like chase though.

An appropriate excerpt

" entered into common language as a phrase meaning "to reprimand severely", with the added sense of a stern warning. The phrase remains in common use in the English language. "

And did I tell them off severely .  :)
Always a good feeling to tell those kinds of people exactly where to shove it :)

What's the deal with Barclays? If I wasn't approved automatically are my chances slim for approval?

Was it more than one app?

Have you been approved for another Barclays card in say...the last 6 months?

Has anyone here been able to downgrade their Barclay cards into no AF ones when their AF hit?

Or will Barclay not let you do that?

Nope. Haven't applied for a Barclays in almost a year.

You should defiantly try as your chances are good with only a single app, but make sure they confirm with you that there won't be a new credit pull.

IME after being guaranteed by recon  that there will not be an additional credit pull they did go ahead and pulled my experian report.

After calling and going back and forth with the bank many times without them willing to remove the inquiry, I filed a claim with the BBB. Less than 24 hours later it was all settled and the pull was removed.

I had the exact same story with them but my case was easily resolved with the help of a supervisor (who put me on hold to listen to the recorded phone call).

Asked supervisor to listen to phone recordings but she wouldn't do so, but that's exactly what they did after I filed a claim with the BBB.

Which card? Many people have had the fee waived on the Lufthansa m&m card.

Is there any reason to keep a Barclay's card? Can you use them as leverage to close in order to get new applications approved?

Applied for Us and arrival, instantly denied. Called up and got Us approved in 2 min.  :)
He asked me why I opened up so many cards recently, just told him that Im trying to build credit.
Offered to move over NFL card to arrival, no dice.
Now to HUCA for Arrival.  8)
