Barclay reconsideration line: 866-408-4064, Mon-Fri 8AM - 5PM EST.
The 24-hour number is 866-408-4064
New 24 hour number is 866-205-5973
you can finally fax documents to Barclays the number is 866-836-6959

Based on the phone reps, an application usually remains in the system for 90 days, during which you can ask for a reconsideration.
However, if 30 days have passed, it will incur another hard pull.

There have been a few reports of Barclay pulling credit again when reconsidering - even when specifically asked not to.
Make sure to explicitly tell the rep that you don't want another credit pull. The benefit of such action would be that if later you see they did pull your credit you can call up and speak to a manager and have the pulls removed (based on first-hand accounts from this thread).

If you want to guarantee that you don't get another pull, freeze your credit report.

While Barclay recon reps are usually very tough to deal with, there have been sporadic reports of them reconsidering by reallocating credit-line from other cards. Additionally, there are a few reports indicating success with the 3BM.
Personal and biz didn't combine

Barclay recon reps take notes of each phone call and subsequent reps usually regurgitate the previous rep's reply.

Barclays has a 6/24 rule similar to chase 5/24. Not hardcoded like chase though.

Both wife and I had Lufthansa cards opened last July.

We both applied for arrivals and usairways past month. She got approved for arrivals rejected usairways, I got approved usairways rejected arrivals.
We both called tonight for reconsideration. They moved credit lines from our Lufthansa cards opened last year and we each got approved.  ;D

Just another recent reconsideration happy ending.

Nice! That's quite a good Barclays story. I imagine shifting CL worked here (as opposed to many other reports) because of how old those LH accounts were.

I have seen posters here commenting that it really is a new era at Barclays as far as recon. IME it's 100% true. Barclays recon used to be a brick wall. I just successfully pushed through a US Airways by shifting CL from M&M.

Now, I will add that 6 weeks ago I HUCA'd Barclays recon 8 times to no avail, but if you take that failure and today's success then you get a 50% success rate -- MUCH better than the "99% total waste of time" touted in the Wiki. Maybe even time to change that.  :)

Data point: the CSR I spoke to asked me how long I've been working for, when I said 1 year he told me that their policy is they like to see 3 years of employment history.

(He subsequently approved my application)

Thanks for sharing that!

I successfully applied for a M&M card three and a half months ago, and just applied for an arrival two days ago.  It was declined.
I just got off the phone with recon (first time re' this app).  She said it was declined automatically by the system so she would have to pull my credit to consider my app, so I told her to go ahead.  She came back asked all the usual q's, asked my how long I've been at my curent job, I said "one year, and at a similar job for two years prior to this job -- thanks for the heads up MeirS -- and she said "that's good, we usually like to see at least three years."  She looked over my report, said she sees that I have handled my credit well, always payed my M&M in full "as well as the other larger credit lines"  so she can approve me for 5K on top of the 12K I have on my M&M. I asked her to take 6K from my M&M and make my arrival plus 11K which she agreed to no prob.  - at 2.2% cash back toward any travel expenses, I'll do my MS on an Arrival over a M&M any day.  I dont actually need 11K to spend, but this way I can carry up to 2.2K at any given time and still be under 20% of my CL to keep FICO happy.

applied for us air 2 wks after closing. called into recon and they never pulled my credit cause i already had the card. i had them pull it and got declined because too many accounts opened and closed etc.. 5 sec later i applied for arrival and got approved with 5k.
any chances of getting the us approved by calling again?

You bet, I just got off the phone with Barclays with a successful recon for the US airways card after closing it. Perhaps the 99% from wiki should be edited.

I think the insurmountable difficulty of a Barclays recon is when you are new with them, AND asking for multiple cards. Once you have established history and accounts in good standing with them they are likely to loosen up a bit.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

Has anyone had success within the past month or 2 to get approved on a SECOND call to recon?

I think they pull your credit again.
