Barclay reconsideration line: 866-408-4064, Mon-Fri 8AM - 5PM EST.
The 24-hour number is 866-408-4064
New 24 hour number is 866-205-5973
you can finally fax documents to Barclays the number is 866-836-6959

Based on the phone reps, an application usually remains in the system for 90 days, during which you can ask for a reconsideration.
However, if 30 days have passed, it will incur another hard pull.

There have been a few reports of Barclay pulling credit again when reconsidering - even when specifically asked not to.
Make sure to explicitly tell the rep that you don't want another credit pull. The benefit of such action would be that if later you see they did pull your credit you can call up and speak to a manager and have the pulls removed (based on first-hand accounts from this thread).

If you want to guarantee that you don't get another pull, freeze your credit report.

While Barclay recon reps are usually very tough to deal with, there have been sporadic reports of them reconsidering by reallocating credit-line from other cards. Additionally, there are a few reports indicating success with the 3BM.
Personal and biz didn't combine

Barclay recon reps take notes of each phone call and subsequent reps usually regurgitate the previous rep's reply.

Barclays has a 6/24 rule similar to chase 5/24. Not hardcoded like chase though.

I applied my 3rd US Airways credit card today for this year. got rejected and reconsideration told me, that they cannot approve it, as I have closed 2 of these cards this year itself. asked me why I closed it this year? (Last one was just last week) I said, it was in error. but they didnt approve it.

Any idea how to overcome this Braclay reconsideration?

Thanks. Thats what I thought of doing. I was wondering, if they keep log of past conversations. My reason for denial is specifically 2 US Air cards this year applied. approved and closed. so they cannot do it anymore. that was reason. Any good logical reason to overcome this hurdle? how would you answer it, if it comes again?

First of all, the beauty of HUCA is that you have nothing to lose. You can call a hundred times, and all you've lost (if you don't get approved) is some time, and a serious dent in your phone bill. No one can "punish" you in any way. You can just keep trying.

As for the notes... If they write notes about it, call a few times and deliberately steer the conversation toward other topics. Eventually, the notes will be clogged with useless garbage, and they might not notice the original notes. ;D

As for the cards closed... Be creative. Say you decided to switch to cash for a while, but realized the hard way that it was making a serious dent in your precious US miles balance. Or "shamefacedly" admit that you wanted to try another airline-branded card, but now you have seen the glorious light of US and Barclays once again. Think outside the box! :)

I called 3 times now in space of 1 hour each. it is same person - Joanne, who picks up the phone at Barclay (so I hang up). Do they have only 1 person there or I am sheer unlucky to get her only. May be shall I call another day?

I can personally testify, that yes, they keep logs of your calls. But persistence can never hurt... :)

BTW, there are two numbers to call. One is recon and the other is credit analysis, i think. Anyway, here they are:

866-408-4064
866-369-1283

Make sure to explicitly tell the rep that you dont want another credit pull (although, in your case they may not do it), so like this you can have them removed later if need be (see my above post).

My application was pending for a week so I called in.
After asking a few very detailed questions about my income, and another credit pull, I was denied for "only" having 40k in income.
I tried getting some credit moved from my Choice Privilege card to no avail.
I HUCA'd and same story. (Not only that, even if I was tempted to say I have more income, it wouldn't work as the first rep put everything into the notes).
It seems like they are getting pretty tough.
Any advice for me?
Thanks.
(This was regarding the US Airways card).

4 times HUCA now with 4 separate reps in last 3 days. for me income is good and credit is good and payment history is good. but line used is for my denial is the same. All 4 reps mentioned thesame thing, "you are applying too many credit card. you have 9 credit inquiries in last 12 months. you have applied this year itself in last 9 months 2 time US air credit card itself with that many credit cards that you apply, we will not give you 1 more US airways card"

this line is used after me convincing on all aspects, that I had canceled, as you had asked me to cancel to get a new card. I will keep this card, dont give me next one, if you see I dont keep it. I canceled because competietor offer was good, then I realised, I am better off with US Air... etc.... etc.....

Any suggestions? Keep doing HUCA? Give up? any other innovative way?

called 5th time. this time rep clearly said, you have spoken to 4 different rep for 4 times here. we are now not going to do a full review also for you (so no more few minutes hold, nothing). we cannot issue you new US air card. appears to me, that this card has very limited churning possibility. especially, if you do it too often, it is not going to work. may be once or maximum twice a year may be possible. no more than that. this is now thru my personal experience hard way to find. so I suggest, people not to consider US air card anymore for churning purposes.

Wow! So not only do they keep logs, they even coordinate between agencies! These guys mean business!

I wish the the best of luck! But unfortunately, I've got no ideas at the moment.

I dont think so. I personally dealt with both of them and they seem very different.
