Barclay reconsideration line: 866-408-4064, Mon-Fri 8AM - 5PM EST.
The 24-hour number is 866-408-4064
New 24 hour number is 866-205-5973
you can finally fax documents to Barclays the number is 866-836-6959

Based on the phone reps, an application usually remains in the system for 90 days, during which you can ask for a reconsideration.
However, if 30 days have passed, it will incur another hard pull.

There have been a few reports of Barclay pulling credit again when reconsidering - even when specifically asked not to.
Make sure to explicitly tell the rep that you don't want another credit pull. The benefit of such action would be that if later you see they did pull your credit you can call up and speak to a manager and have the pulls removed (based on first-hand accounts from this thread).

If you want to guarantee that you don't get another pull, freeze your credit report.

While Barclay recon reps are usually very tough to deal with, there have been sporadic reports of them reconsidering by reallocating credit-line from other cards. Additionally, there are a few reports indicating success with the 3BM.
Personal and biz didn't combine

Barclay recon reps take notes of each phone call and subsequent reps usually regurgitate the previous rep's reply.

Barclays has a 6/24 rule similar to chase 5/24. Not hardcoded like chase though.

what if at all, can she tell recon to ease them on her no credit history?
Barclays recon is really tough. I don't know who recommended them for a beginner, but it was a bad recommendation. And no, your good credit won't help push her app through.

I was once approved via recon by closing an old card. But that was an anomaly.

i just did that today

my original Lufthansa app was declined because i 'already had sufficient credit with Barclays'

called and offered to close my US airways card (2k limit) and they approved me for the Lufthansa (5k limit)

rep also requested permission to pull my credit because they didnt pull it for the original application

Yeh, it seems it is becoming more common as of late. I hope this trend continues.

I don't know how they define "sufficient credit with Barclays" to me they claimed one card is enough when I offered to close some old accounts.
Airlines sending me "We're in this together" emails.

Bruh, where were you when my suitcase weighed it 51.50 pounds?

I just tried applying for the arrival and US airways. Status was pending so I called recon and got denied for having too many recent credit lines opened (did a 4BM with chase 2 months ago). Is there any trick to getting this done? My FICO was 798 a few months ago and I have very few pulls on TU.

Thanks!

I applied about an hour ago for WMC.  Just got off the phone with recon, and they just approved it!  They only needed info on income and other personal info.  So, I guess I'm one of the 1%ers!  ;) (refer to wiki)

But it's unlikely to work

I got the card! Approved for the US and asked for the Arrival instead :) . So, any luck splitting the credit into two cards (I'd like the US Airways as well)?

Dang. You should've done it then and there. Instead of switching you could've split it then.

I kicked myself after hanging up. I was so shocked that he was able to open it that I kinda let my guard down.

You could try it again, if he hasn't processed the denial, and say that you were just super excited to get the Barclays, and you weren't thinking and if it would be possible to maybe split the CL between the two cards so that you could use one card for US Airways for flights to visit family and the other for other participating airlines, etc.  Worth a try.

What do you mean by processing a denial? How does the process work? Once I get a denial letter, can I still call?

IME, if you don't get the card, they mail you a denial letter that comes about two weeks later.  So, call them now before they process it just to see if you have a chance at salvaging the USAir card.  CALL NOW!

They're closed. Has anyone reported recon pulling another report recently?

Applied for Arrival and US Air 2BM declined on both.  According to my discover statement, my FICO  is 760.

The Barclay recon guy siad;
Quote
"I see you have an exceptional history managing high balances on a large number of cards with amex and chase, but since you opened 18 cards in the last twelve months there is no way we can approve you"

I think 18 cards is pushing it a little.  Would that include AUs on all my cards?  I did have a busy year, but I'm pretty sure that I di not open 18 accounts.

Nope.
Had a busy 2 years on the phone with chase recon (although not nearly as much as some others around here) kept things pretty low key with Amex, 2 citi and 1 discover, but no Barclay

Would huca work or unlikely?
