My parents were upgraded to BF from TLV-EWR, with my father only being Premiere Gold at the time.. happened last Succos. Tickets were booked as Saverpass in Economy. So, it does happen....

prob because it was oversold or some other rare instance. But policy wise they dont comp upgrades internationally

im trying to book someone from 1k status account from NYC-LAX.
i see above Dan says the best way is through CLE.

if im looking at KVS availability, what classes should be open for the best chance to get upgraded? and how many seats in that class?
flight is for tomorrow

look for R class. If you are eligible and the flight is tomorrow, if there are seats in R, you'll get upgraded right away.
