Yes, I believe he's written about it before.

Anyone ever get this?

Hello,

We’ve noticed that you’ve returned a significant number of your recent orders. In our experience, high rates of returns can indicate that customers are not happy with their Amazon shopping experience.

If there is anything that we can do to improve your experience on our site, please reply to this e-mail with your feedback. For technical assistance with your account, just click the Contact Us button on any Amazon.com Help page to reach our Customer Service team (www.amazon.com/help).

While we welcome returns when orders don’t work out, we want to do whatever we can to ensure that you are happy with your Amazon shopping experience.

Thank you for choosing Amazon.com.

Best regards,

IMHO I don't see this as something to get nervous about.
I've never come across such a letter. Either amazon is warning you that a ban is imminent, or they have changed the way they deal with return abusers.
Regardless it's nice they are letting you know that you have already been triggered in there system.

-1, that is their warning letter.

Keep returning and you'll be banned for life and have your applied GCs confiscated.
What i have learnt from my online reading about this, once you reach that stage, there is NOONE to speak to about it (no clueless reps can help either) and they will hunt down multiple accounts etc.

I've tried to find updated info about the "lifetime ban/blacklist" but seems like this was a lot more common a good few years ago.
Has amazon got more lenient?
Any specifics on what triggers it?

Ever since looking into this "ban" I always think twice before making an order that I will likely return. Especially since I am joint to someone's prime account and I share my account with others, I'm scared they can all get messed over with a ban.

I wonder if abusing the Zappos return policy can get you banned from Amazon as well...

I guess spreading purchases/returns of multiple accounts may be less of a red flag and go undetected, but once your busted all your accounts are gone.

Also, I personally never return via their DIY returns center. I always contact them and tell the rep the issue. The outcome is always better. This also may help keep you under the radar as its avoiding the automated returns system.

Note all this is speculation. Anyone have anything definitive?

Here are a few outcomes when contacting them:
- They will offer first a 10% then 20% discount for you to keep the item. I've got a 20% refund for a DSLR camera as the box was dusty.
- They may process a refund on the spot and email you a return shipping label. IME they don't check if u actually send back the item.
- They have even said to keep, donate or dispose of the item and they will process the refund.

I find the most simple way to resolve an issue with amazon and have a good outcome is contacting them via email. Then comes calling. Worst is chatting.

Not that I'm looking to abuse Amazon's generous policies, but how could they prevent you from opening another account under your wife's, kid's brother's name?

Because they can do whatever they want.

How would they know? They'll ban your address? Your entire family?

Amazon is not gonna 'shut you down' (like google wallet). they are trying to get massive market share. even at a loss. They some products below wholesale just to 'beat the market'.

to many returns and zappos credit that I got for free (I had 150 that I never used when they shut me down)but they only gave me a warning that I will not get any more courtesies from them and 2 weeks later they shut me down but the weird part about it was they linked me up with a neighbor who used to just call them and drive them crazy (in the email they send me it had my email and my neighbors email and it had his name not mine)I then tried to get my account back a couple of times and that's when they blocked my number

It's kind of crazy how they linked you and your neibour. I guess when they look into things they go so far to think that similar addresses might be the same person.
