Flying to Antwerp-Infants Turning 2 During The Trip
« on: September 03, 2012, 11:31:25 PM »
Hi,

I'm looking to fly to Antwerp (BRU) for Sukkos. My wife and I and our twin daughters - who will IYH turn 2 years old during Sukkos.
I have 250,000 British Airways Miles, 144,000 American Airlines miles, 110,000 Starpoint, and 95,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards.

Looking at the dates, it only makes sense to leave Motzei Yom Kippur - the 26th of Sept. and come back on the 10th or 11th of Oct.

Was wondering if anyone can help/recommend the best route to go about this. Not sure at all about the whole international tax, and the babies turning 2 during travel stay - so the way back do we need tickets for them...?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you flying coach?
Did you look into selling your miles and buying regular tickets?

If getting mileage tix, you can buy the outbound for infants, and a separate ticket for the return as children.

If selling the miles and buying tickets is the way to go, then I am definitely open to that idea. Direct would be great but not mandatory.
Because I'm not sure which way/airline is the best way, I am asking you guys for any suggestions.

Unless BA has an exception which I don't know, normally a kid has to remain infantuntill boarding of return flight (or at least check-in)

Wow, so one needs to depart the day before second birtshday, and have one long ticket for the next year...

Thanks JKHein for that useful info!

So taking into account that BA will not require return tickets for the twins, is flying BA the best way to go? Also, just realized I have a free companion ticket on BA, so I can purchase 1 ticket with Miles, and have all four of us free? I know there is a lot of taxes, is it still worth it?

the question is if u have different travel plans planed
If u are flying in coach and prefer direct flights there u can fly United Aa or jet airways and imo jet airways is the most comfortable option I would sell some miles and pay for the flight but if u fly business/first then u should fly ba first with a free companion and because u are flying out from Brussels u will pay less tax then flying with ba from London.
Another question is if u have an Iberia account that is open for 3month

Thanks @abee

@Smart Brit
I looked for a first class flight, but there does not seem to be any available on BA.com through mileage... I do not have an Iberia account.
In addition, there does not seem to be any available direct flights using BA.com or AA.com

If u are using miles to fly business/first then it pays but otherwise just sell the miles and buy a coach ticket

Would you happen to know what airline would be my best bet, and about what prices are?
Also, I'd ba.com is not showing first class available, is there any way around that?

With Brussels airlines its 790 direct leaving Thu Sep 27 return Oct 11 and u earn mileage on star alliance.
With ba there is no way around it unless you are a gold member there could be more availability but try searching to London only and see if there are available flights
