Accepting credit cards FOR NON-BUSINESS
« on: September 04, 2012, 08:12:49 PM »
I am selling some stuff for a few thousand dollars and the only way the customer wants to buy is if he can pay with his credit card.

Aside for the system with the lowest possible fees, I am looking for a system that will be able to be used without problems and restrictions for personal use.
It will be under personal name and NOT A BUSINESS. (BTW does anyone know if the IRS will be on my case for a few transactions of a few thousand dollars each?).

Does anyone know or use something and can kindly share some info?
Thanks!

I was talking about how much can one charge at square in one swipe? Like for example $1,000 at a time & $3,000 maximum for a month!

How long does it take to transfer the funds to a Chase bank account from Square?
Also, do I have to be worried about taxes if I use Square?

Intuit - Quickbooks let's you set up CC processing at a pretty low fee.

If its under 20k you shouldn't have any IRS issues

So your saying that if I have a credit card that has a $20,000 credit limit with 0% APR for 18 months & I want $10,000 cash then this is the way to go?

Do you know their rates?
What about if I don't use QuickBooks at all? I don't even have a copy of it..

I know there's a few threads addressing this but I was only able to find this one.

I need to accept Credit Cards from a customer what is the best way to do that? I do not need or want a terminal he sends me his CC# and I must swipe it.

I believe all I need is an authorize.net account but I have no clue how to get it for cheap. I have an offer for 1.69% + $13 a mnonth but I would prefer something without a monthly fee.
