I got 3 Amex cards(SPG,Plat MB and Gold) and hit threshold pretty quickly with a few purchases here and there. I got a point advance(and sign up bonus) for both cards(Gold and Plat) and SPG I have a sm stating the bonus will be applied shortly. You need to keep hounding them and you will get it.

Did you guys check on pending points on the MR website before calling/emailing?

Yeah, I think we are only talking about unpending, unavailable, completely non-existent bonus points :-)   Also with seasoned MR accounts I've never seen bonuses in the pending state, they are either not there or they are rewarded and immediately available.  I have seen bonuses go through a pending state with newly created MR accounts.  Not sure if this is always the rule though.

What's the consensus here? Does this change anything or just more YMMV?
I just rec'd the cards from a 3BM with Plat, Plat MB, and PRG. This is on my wife's name and she's never had an Amex of her own.

AMEX not offering bonuses if had within 12 months
« Reply #23 on: September 05, 2012, 02:57:32 PM »
I'm sure this has been discussed in middle of different threads but I have not seen this specific discussion in a thread of its own.

On the app of many amex cards a disclaimer reads:

"Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have had this product or any other Business Gold or Green Card Account within the last 12 months."

I have had quite a number of the same exact amex cards within a year of each other as well as other amex cards and I never had an issue. Is this meant just as a back up for amex in case they want to actually withhold someones points for some reason or do they actually stand behind this rule on any kind of consistent basis?

Should anyone consider not applying for fear of not getting the points because of this?

I also signed up via 3bm for PRG, Plat MB and Bus Gold.  Prior to applying for these 3 cards, I downgraded my Regular Platinum (i.e., not Mercedes) to the Zync.  Within a day or two of reaching the $2K threshold for the PRG I got 25K points.  It has been a few weeks since I met the $1K threshold for the 50K points on the Plat MB and the points have yet to post.  I have not yet reached the $10K threshold in order to get the 75K points on the Bus Gold, but considering the talk on this thread I'm wondering whether I shouldn't try too hard to spend the $10K right away...Any ideas?

What's the rush, doesn't he have four months to complete the spend? I'd say spread the spend out equally between the four months if possible, and pay it as soon as the purchase posts (but not before).

What is benefit to pay as soon as the purchase posts?

Less owed to Amex = less change of getting trapped by an F/R algorithmic.

Does anyone think high MR Balances should be transferred before applying for the second card of the samy type ?

I have 300K plus , and wonder if it draws attention to multiple account holders .

Maybe some type of flag.  Did you guys that did NOT get points have high MR balances ?
