Initial deposit w/ cc
« on: September 05, 2012, 03:02:00 PM »
According to chase.com, you can make the initial deposit to a checking account opened online using a credit card. If you use a Chase credit card to make the initial deposit to a Chase checking account, will it be considered a purchase or a cash advance? Is there any risk-free way to find out or test this?

Which card you use is tricky:

Chase = A/A  risk.
Citi = definite CA fees
Amex = F/R risk

IIRC the max is 500 so I don't think AA from Chase would be a risk.

Using a Chase card to fund a Chase checking with $500 causes a cash advance with $25 fee, posts the following day.  Was able to SM to get fee reversed and pay the $500 immediately.

I funded $25 (the min) with a Chase CC. Got a $10 CA fee. Called them up and told them I thought when I fund a Chase Checking there is no fee....
Got it waived.
Done this twice the past 3 months.
Love me or hate me. I still love you.

Oh so you mean I can't deposit $75000 and get 75000 points?  ;)

It used to be you could, but more importantly on a no interest card for 15 months and earn 5% interest on it
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

I tried asking Chase using SM from my cc account if it would be considered CA or purchase. I asked 3 different times, and they still have no clue what they are saying...

First time they said that I need to call for that information
Second time they gave me the rates and fees for CA
Third time they gave me a rundown on overdraft protection using my credit from my credit card

Does anyone else ever get the feeling that Chase SM "Customer Service Specialists" don't bother to read the question??? This is by no means the first time
