I don't know, I have been "going bald" for some time now, and let me tell you, during the summer times, when it is hot and humid outside, I am LOVING the fact that my head is hairless!!! In fact I used to get super short haircut for summer-

More power to ya. My theory is you might as well just shave it off and get it over with !:)

I didnt want to start a new thread so I'm just posting it here. I'm also starting to go bald, I'm looking for a shampoo that's more gentle for during the winter dry months, any suggestions?

There are shampoos that supposedly are made for people loosing their hair, or strengthening them.
The mildest shampoos are the ones for babies.

I believe keeping your hair short, keeps them stronger.

it has nothing to do with "manning" up!! its just to keep our heads warm during the winter!! A bald head can get really cold!!!!

Imagine if you had this problem. You wouldn't want to solve it? (Assuming you didn't wear a shaitel...)

i said MAN up i didnt say WOMAN up. If it happens to a woman there are hormonal problems. If it happens in a man its a normal situation. and they make hats to keep warm, but ya never thought about that.

its part of life.

While that may be true there is nothing wrong with trying to prevent it and fix it. If you can't, you can't but there is no harm is trying.

It's also a normal situation to grow old and get wrinkles but that doesn't mean women don't try to prevent it or help the situation.

ok well i have what to say on that also.. at least some people are able to experience wrinkles from old age. some people never make it that far.. i dont think its normal for people to perfect every flaw that happens as they get older (some need to be taken care of unfortunately)

Meh, your argument seems silly to me. We have all this modern medicine/technology why shouldn't we use it? Should people also not use acne medicine because having acne is part of life?

True it may or may not be a big deal, but if there are solutions out there. Why not take advantage?

i said some things unfortunately need to be taken care of- and each person can decide that for themselves. but every med brings side affects and their all not pretty. so the best you can do with embracing your baldness (or other issue ur dealing with) the better off you are.

"There are things that may help but they have side effects so it may not be worth it" is not the same thing as saying "Guys, man up! It's part of life. Who cares"

Propecia and Proscar (used for BPH) are the same medicine, and I think, if I recall correctly that they discovered its effect on hair when patients were using it for BPH. Side effects CAN occur, but they are not GUARANTEED to occur. It varies from person to person as do many drugs. If someone equated baldness to a different disease and thought that the risks outweigh the benefits then why not use the medicine?

I am also going bald. I just get bigger kippas! But thats only for one type of baldness that starts from the middle. If you are starting to bald from the hairline then the kippa method wont really work as well  :o
