Am I the only one who sees the connection between protecting (or at least not acting against) the perpetrators of sexual abuse leading to the formation of this terrible cult?

(Weingarten's father was protected by certain individuals (some Roshei Moisdos did do their best to get him under bars, though).

A federal judge has just sentenced Let Tahor cult leader Nachman Helbrans to 144 months (12 years) in prison followed by 5 years of supervised released for the 2018 Shabbos kidnapping of two children who escaped the cult

The sentencing for a second cult leader, Mayer Rosner, is ongoing and will be handed down momentarily.
