sending a package to Israel
« on: September 10, 2012, 10:32:38 AM »
Does anyone know the cheapest way to send a package to Israel?
My daughter is in Safed for the year and a third suitcase would have cost $200.
I need to send about 35 lbs worth of clothes, toiletries and shoes and boots.

Find someone to take a second piece at $100?
Even shipping it would be cheaper.

*G members ought to rent themselves out to these sem girls.
Everyone on the PNR would get 3x70 instead of 1x50 pound bags.

is that true for a group flight?  or is it only for a regular pnr which takes up to (9?)?

Great idea! Would be a good thing to post about next year come Seminary time. I think most girls are there already.

Just reg PNR.
Though I often find better prices than the group rates they give to these girls...

Besides all the nice parts of the Seminary experience which hopefully include growth, maturing, making new friends, and experiencing our beautiful country seminary is also a lot of people ripping off a bunch of girls from the tickets,  to the cell phone plans, to Seminary in general.
What's the cost these days? $20,000 ?

at that point it prob wouldn't pay for them to rent someone.  unless the person was flying anyway at that time and would take a few hundred bucks to go on their pnr...  but to buy someone a ticket and pay them for their time.. wouldn't be worth it.

technically it's their parents being ripped off.  i don't think any of these girls are paying for any of this from their pockets.

I think most girls would gladly pay $200 to be able to bring 3x70 instead of 1x50 and have everything they need for the year and not have to buy overpriced american items in Israel.

Plus if they're UA *G they'd got Economy plus seating, etc.

$200x8 girls=$1,600.  Not a huge payday, but it's more than a free ticket.

You're right.  It makes me sick to my stomach how much more money these parents end up spending then they should have to.
