Wow. I didn't realize the average age of the DD folks!
Anyway, I was coming back with an ambulance from dropping off a patient in Maimodides hospital (Hatzolo call) when one of our members, downtown, started screaming about the plane into the building. I made a left on Ocean Parkway, told the dispatcher I'm heading into downtown, picked up a medic and went with a crew to help out. We were stationed across the street and the building came down on us. There's tons more to the story, but I'm sure everyone read all about it from all the newspapers and magazines. I still cannot believe this happened. I'm going to check out the video someone posted before. I have the CD with the dispatching, but no video and I actually hear mysef saying I'm going in.
We should never have these situations in the future.

I was in a local large grocery (the old Friedman's) that had the radio on loud speaker playing a news station as usual.  When I walked in and heard the discussion about the pilot who mistakenly flew into the WTC, I asked someone if that was real or some joke!  Then the report came that the second tower was hit.
I went home and called my sister and plugged in my old TV.  We watched it over the phone together, were horrified, cried a little.
I later felt bad that I didn't think to say tehilim.

My husband could see the tower swaying with the fire.  He told people in his office it looked like it would fall, but the concept was beyond anyone's imagination.
My son's Rebbe (5the grade?) kept going back and forth to the office for updates to tell the class.  He didn't have the class say tehilim either.
Bais Yakov elementary school in BP forbid the teachers to talk about it ALL day.  They were worried about kids with relatives in the WTC.  So my girls knew nothing until I told them when they came home!

I was on the West Coast as a youth director for a Chabad House.
the Shlucha called me about 8 my time to wake me up and told me to listen to the radio.
I still remember the radio announcer saying - for those of you who are just getting up now....

I was shocked!! I was also scared about the Plane that crashed in PA bec thats where my family lived.

I called my sister on shluchos overseas and the second she heard my voice she burst out crying. She heard the news over there - that NY was bombed (prob not much more details then that) and she couldnt get through to anyone in my family (in NY or PA) for the last 2 hours.

My husband who was on shlichus as a bochur overseas was not able to get home for yom tov.

I was doing shlichus in Wildwood, NJ.

I had slept in that morning and didn't go to Atlantic City for shachris as I usually would've.
I had finally woken up and was about to step in the shower when the guys got back from minyan. One of the guys came in the apt and started saying how a whole bunch of planes were hijacked and the WTC was knocked down and the Pentagon was hit and there are more missing planes (that's pretty much how he said it.) I didn't believe him, I was sure he was joking. Even when he turned on the radio I still didn't believe it, I was sure it was some kind of hoax or something like the War of the Worlds broadcast, after a few minutes of listening to the radio I realized that it was real...

I don't remember much else from that day other than mivtzah tefillin being more successful than usual, and being in a store with a tv on when WTC 7 came down.

Sure, start up with an old man!!
I just got home from Yeshivah - a Friday afternoon, so it was around 12:30, and that's when Kennedy got shot! I remember it clearly.
Also remember Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King.
I can't seem to recall President Lincoln!
Again, Gmar Chasimah Tova to you all and looking forward IYH to a great year
