9/11 was entirely different and effected the nation on a much deeper level than a presidential assassination.
Not sure I agree. What about PH & 911.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

That's 90% who weren't assassinated :)
Many≠Most.

Also not sure I would agree with that notion. A presidential assassination would affect everyone as they now have a new president. (Think LBJ with Vietnam) But 9/11 primarily affected NYC, the Pentagon and the poor people that were on those flights.
Sure as a result of being attacked we engaged in two major wars but is that any different than Pearl Harbor?

True, but by the same token 4≠Many, many is a quantity not a precentage.

Was in middle of typing up that I would check it out during my lunch break of "mostly unfiltered internet" at work, when the power at work went out.

I have a BB and not sure they have an app for it.

Most events center around one attack, WTC bombing, OKC bombing, etc.
9/11 attacks were far more sophisticated and occurred in multiple places, thus the date was used.
only two and the third was thwarted. What about the london attacks and the train bombings in Madrid? Do they use dates over there or names?

So what you're saying is that one day when we're all old and grey, we'll be telling the youngsters "I remember Sep. 11th like yesterday" and they'll be looking up their <Google inheritor> to find out what that is? :o
I'm already telling the grandchildren. 12 years is a long time in kids years! They find it so hard to comprehend. Actually, even though I spent a full day there, I still do not believe it happened. Right after it happened, I wrote my impressions of the day and am keeping it for my family. As far as comparing it to the JFK story, they were both horrible, but totally different events. As Dan says a litttle further in the post.
“You see things; you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say 'Why not?”

But 9/11 primarily affected NYC, the Pentagon and the poor people that were on those flights.
And anyone who has flown since 9/11.
And it totally changed America's perspective on terrorism, national security etc.

All of those things are a result of being at war, no diff than what we did in the 40's w german and asian americans. There was some major upheaval then too. there were designated camps for asian americans then because we were scared. Those are all effects caused by PH same as TSA and NSA by 9/11. If and when this war ever ends for America, things should go back to how they were.

Diff Enemy, Diff times, Diff methods, Diff ideals, but the idea is that now we are at war, we are scared so we allow more freedoms to be taken away as a country. This has been done numerous times since Lincoln and maybe even earlier. However just because now it doesn't seem to be that way, should America ever find itself not at war with the radical muslims (s/t Mr. Obama seems to be working very hard to accomplish at all costs) there is no reason to assume that security will not become more lax.
Two reasons actually to assume it will,
1. cost of operating such high(?) standards
2. loss of privacy (rights)

In fact we are already beginning to see some push back in regards to point 2.

Unfortunately, this isn't a war we can ever win.
It's nothing like any conventional war in the past.  Japan was bombed to defeat, life went back to normal.

If you really think life is going to go back to normal and we'll be boarding airplanes without security checks once again then you're delusional.  This isn't a war we can win.
