Topic Wiki

I have been to Turkey several times. They (Turkish Airlines) are somehow able to consistently be one of the lowest cost and decent airlines.
It is a shame that the country under Erdogan (current leader) does not have better relations with Israel.
I do NOT wear a kippa in Public in Turkey. (I wear a hat/cap)
Even with a hotel for a few nights Turkish Airlines can beat many airlines in terms of price.
I stayed at a decent hotel in Istanbul for about 50$/night.
They have fares to Israel for about 704$ in May of 2015.
Ukraine / Russian airlines are cheaper sometimes but I don't think they are great ..
How does Turkish airlines do it?
The only things I can think of : lower fuel costs? Lower wages? govt subsidies?
The airline is quite ok and Turkey is one of the few Muslim countries that flies to Israel with four or more flights per day on average...
This is not meant to be an Ad for Turk Air....but it is in interesting ::) phenomena....

I'm glad my message was clear.

No reports here.

At least nothing about near future plans.

seems Dan Luvs us so much he doesnt care how the poll turns out and wants us Both to enjoy our stay (very brief) in IST

I wonder if Dan thought about how dull it would be here on these boards w/o us around (wed be flying to IST)

But if a paid tkt is thrown in where I can earn some UA EQMs , I would definitely think about going

I just need someone to pay the taxes + hotel, the rest I take care of myself.

« Reply #53 on: March 17, 2011, 01:00:33 AM »
I will Be'ezrat Hashem fly with Turkish to Israel.
Anyone ever been to Istanbul?
Anyone ever go to Shul there?
I want to daven in a shul if possible
I know there are several shuls but it seems you need to make reservations due to security.

got ticket for $811 .
Should I join miles and Smiles (Turkish Air's Program or another to get the points/miles)

I was at his house, since I flew Hkg-Ist and by mistake put my tefilin in the jold luggage. As my connection flight from Ist-Zrh was only at 5 PM, I went there to use his tefilin.  They were big :-)
