2bm-what went wrong?

On Thursday i did a 2bm for the united explorer and the saphire preffered mastercard (i already have the visa). Both didnt get approved instantly and on the app status one said 7/10 days and the other 2weeks. Sometime on Fri/Shabbos the explorer was automatically approved, without calling. On tuesday i called to push through the mastercard, and as expected they said that application didnt go through because cant have two prefferd the same time even mc and visa.
I offered to close the visa and put the mc through (and/or tranfer the credit), and they said no problem but the mc will require ANOTHER HARD PULL.
I HUCA'd 4 different times and they all said the same thing-another hard pull is needed because nothing was pulled for the mastercard.

1-Did i do the 2bm wrong somehow? (dont think so-two different browsers and applied the same time)
2-Is there anything i can do or say that will get it through without another pull?

I called twice again today-same result-need to do a hard pull for the 2nd card.
My friend also did a 2bm with the same cards and after caling recon.they both got approved but with two pulls.     
Anyone know what's goin on or what to do?

Should have closed the Visa first and moved the CL to a diff card

on all the disscusions it seems that people were successful the way i did it as well.
