someone to teach me about all this?
« on: September 12, 2012, 10:24:03 AM »
Hi,

I have read the newbie forums and tried to read as much as I can, but am so confused how some people have soooooo much mileage saved up and manage to be super duper elite status for all airlines, hotels, car rentals, etc.

Is there a forum page (that I couldn't find) that explains what to do? Like a mileage for dummies manual?

Thanks,

Some VERY basic answers:

People have a lot of mileage mostly from Churning credit cards!

Once you have elite status with one airline/alliance it's pretty easy to get matched to another.
Some people even do Mileage runs (flying cheap fares JUST to earn miles towards status)
Hotel status can also be matched as well as car rentals.

And there are times when hotel status is offered for free. And car rental status is easy to get with National and can be matched to Hertz and Sixt etc.

Stay here a while and you will start to get the hang of it!
