I have a friend in yeshiva who does this for a living. Would you want to work with him? Or you prefer to find a way to do it on your own?

(BTW, why is this in Credit Cards?)

I'd be interested in chatting with him. PM me.

I thought about the location for this post as well. Here is the description of this thread.
"Talk about credit cards or bank accounts including churning, rebates, and mileage earning via credit cards, or any other financial topics."

I think this is a financial topic...

Just to provide closure on this thread, I ended up buying a 2012 Ford S-Max.
The tax savings for olim saved me around 21k shekel.

Bought it from the Ford dealer in Talpiot after checking out around 5+ other options.

And no, you're not treated like a king when you buy a car. In some dealerships, I actually had to try to get their attention as they were ignoring me. I found that Toyota seemed to be the most interested in selling me a car, maybe because the agent helping me was Anglo. (Of course, he was no longer working there 2 weeks later, so maybe he was going against Israeli law.)

If you have any questions about the process, feel free to pm me.

doesnt seem like a huge tax saving. is the tax break less than what a tourist would get?

Does the tax savings also apply to car brought in from out of the Country?

Unsure of the tourist discount, but since I'm an oleh, it wouldn't make much of a difference.
Nor am I interested in playing the 'stolen' game.

I believe yes. And for a car shipped in, you can receive the tax discount on either a new or used car, but if you buy here, it's only on a new car. I actually considered bringing in a slightly used Sienna. It would have cost around 7k for shipping and fees, around 25k for car (flexibile) and another 21k or so for taxes. That would have been a savings of around 6k or so on the taxes.
(all #'s approx)
There are experts who can handle imports for you, and I'd recommend using them since the paperwork can be a real hassle.
