US AIRWAYS BUSINESS CLASS
« on: April 13, 2010, 12:09:47 AM »
Anyone have any experience with US Airways business class to Israel from phl?
I want to use my continental miles but the only decent flight is with US Airways.

As usa airlines service is very shvach, no question about it, go for the seats, even more so when going for a short trip, when you don't have time to relax from your trip.

i heard from a jewish flight attendant who later became frum that all flight attendants cant stand the orthodox jewish passenger and badmouth them when the curtain is closed. so i know whats behind the artificial smile.

1- cant blame them , Id feel the same way

2- I got to know numerous FAs on TWA who would come over and say Hi when they saw me in the Terms wherever it was, sometimes on the moving walkway at STL going in the opposite direction and a couple told me to wait and turned around and came over to chat. So if a person doesnt fill the sterotype of being an Obnoxious Religious Jewish Traveler (wheres the milk I asked for, wheres this wheres that, dont tell me I cant stand up etc etc) they dont think any different about a Religious Jew

Unless you have a confirmed Flat-seated 777, Id go with USairways. The seats are more comfortable, and newer. The service is perfectly fine. Where food is concerned, if your ordereing a kosher meal, its the same garbage with both carriers......(and for all of you who think that kosher airline meals taste better when eaten with stainless steal flatware off of Continental branded china......)

the fake smiles are awful, but its better than the antisemitic rudeness that i have experienced on Iberia

I actually loved the breakfast on my last CO BusinessFirst EWR-TLV meal.
Great cheese blintzes, Norman Peach nonfat Yogurt, a bagel with J&J reduced fat cream cheese, a cheese plate, and a fruit cup.

But I've never flown US internationally so I can't comment.

The new US Airways Envoy Class is fantastic. I've flown almost all of the major airlines in Business Class to/from TLV (LY/CO/DL/LX/LH) and other than the new Swiss 333, the seats on US are the best. The service actually can be pretty decent, depending on the crew.

Still its over-rated. You get the same thing for breakfast less the blintzes when you fly that route in Y.

I don't think kosher airline food can be over-rated...it's got a pretty bad reputation to begin with  ;D

its actually because of all the extra attention/needs we have. usually flying with kids, kosher meals, extra hand luggage etc and not so much because of being obnoxious.

i dont think you can generalize for an airline based on a specific experience. ive flown iberia numerous times without feeling an iota of anti semitism - and that was with a plane full of israelis who thought they were still in israel. and ive had a bad experience or two on aa, but usually not
