Unlocked GSM Smartphone

Hey,

I"yh i'll be going to Australia for the coming year... and the prices of phones over there can be like a buying a car here!
All I need is an unlocked GSM phone, a very basic smartphone..(that can handle internet/ what's app/ skype/ takatone...) 

Does anybody know of a website that has good prices for this?

Sounds great.. I will check them out..

Does anybody else know of a specific phone that might be discontinued,  ( like the palm pixi that every lubavitcher has)
and is being sold at dirt cheap?

The pixi is not a Android phone so no what's app or talk a tone or Skype but it can be had for $30 IIRC
