« on: April 14, 2010, 09:14:43 PM »
Anyone know what are the taxes and fees when using award travel from air Canada?
Are they like BA with crazy fees?

Ex. LGA  - YUL

also

YUL - TLV

Thanks.

If you fly on Air Canada they will be crazy.
Try redeeming on partner airlines.

There is no partner airline that flies NYC - YUL - For that you use the LAN on AA

then why involve YUL at all? why not simply fly straight to YYZ? unless the only way to YYZ was with a stop @ YUL

 why???

Im sure its 1 amount for the full say EWR-YYZ-TLV tkt whats the advantage to getting 2 separate tkts?

Ive already did it a few yrs ago using DL miles EWR (CO)-BOS BOS(AI)-MXP MXP(AI)-TLV and back TLV-MXP-EWR for the same amount as if I was flying DL JFK-TLV non-stop

The original question was about YUL

I assumed the OP didnt realize that AC flew only YYZ-TLV and not YUL-TLV non-stop

could very well be a wrong assumption on my part!

If you fly on Air Canada short-hauls are 15K vs. 25K on Star Alliance.

Similar to Continental's 20K short-haul award only good on Continental.

correct but how much is say NY-YYZ-NY = 15k and how much is YYZ-TLV-YYZ?? then how much would a NY-YYZ-TLV tkt be if its 1 tkt??

For some reason I think by getting 2 different tkts it will use up more Miles, I can be Wrong, if they want a stop over Id think they would be able to do that on the 1 tkt anyway

NYC - TLV through YYZ on Aeroplan will still be 75k. I dont think that was the original question though...

well till the OP clarifys why they wanted NY-YUL then TLV we cant really say

as I said I assumed they thought AC served TLV via YUL, I think they would even be able to book say a NY-YUL-YYZ-TLV with a stop over at YUL , but Im not a Pro with the T&Cs of the AC program. If however the OP wants a stop @ YUL and AC wont allow a stopover on say a NY-YUL-YYZ-TLV tkt then indeed 2 different tkts will be needed

AC isnt so friendly when it comes to the Other *A Carriers a very hefty premium over what they require.

I know ANA has its pros with less Mileage (Ok some Cons as well) but I sure wish ALL the Carriers were required to assess the same exact amount of miles no matter whomever you fly on. That is in regards to *A Partners. So if AC had say a relationship with BA then they could charge whatever since BA isnt a *A Partner

I love aeroplan, for everything besides on AC itself, and the fact that a one ways isnt possible.
