Looking for cheap 2nd car
« on: September 19, 2012, 11:08:44 PM »
Looking for cheap 2nd car. Want to be able to rely on it to make some trips to the mountains as well (100 miles).
Some people donate old cars. Perhaps instead of donating it you would sell it and make a bit more on it than what you would save on taxes?

I got an old small  3 seater- 1988 Toyota Pickup Truck that has a non-removable hood. It has 115,000 miles & still running. I'm asking $1,000.

Oh I just thought you were using that word "car" as a general way of telling people that I need anything that would drive me up to the mountains & back. Got it.

You mean the guys that buy it to resell it?

You understand that they're going to give you lessthan  market value, right? - Bec they need to leave room to market it up.

You will get more if you sell directly to a buyer/end user.

i understand that, i want to use their estimate as a gage of what the current market value really is, then i can decide if i'm better off selling it or shipping it cross-country

What about driving it there & using it as a moving truck?

i don't think my armoire or dining room table will fit in my car! and just the thought of spending three days and 28 hours of driving in a car with my 20 month daughter makes my heart skip a beat!!

My relative installed a hood on the back of the truck. So its a basically a real trunk not a open back like all normal pick-ups. It's a great Toyota truck.
