it was in y (economy) but with free space seating when u pulled it up on elal online .
Same here, TLV-FCO & BCN-TLV
AA just called me that they mistakenly ticketed the LY flights in Y class, which allows seat selection, while it should have been in W and canít select seats. They didnít offer me to rebook direct (maybe because Iím not flying to JFK or MIA), just called to LMK that Iíll be losing my seat assignment.

Does that now give you a Premium economy seat?

That doesnt make much sense.

If they are giving you W class, then you are sitting in Premium.
If the aircraft doesn't have a premium cabin, then it's impossible for them to give you W class on that segment, it's non existent. Therefore you would be booked into 'Y' class instead.

And to clear this up - coincidentally, W class is a letter reserved for Premium cabin with both AA and LY, so there's no mixing up W to mean Economy.
Make stuff happen.

I agree, thatís what was weird about it.
I thought they were calling to switch me to nonstop as they had for others.

My customer had a flight TLV to JFK with connection in CDG in premium, however the LY flight to CDG had a delay & he missed the AA flight to JFK, he was given a DL flight instead but no premium. Is there anyway he can claim to get conpensated?

Is there anyway to know which reservations are being chosen for free changes? Currently scheduled on BA through London with 4 hour stop...any chance calling AA would help?

I asked why they wanted to change the reservation and was told due to the fare issues with booking. It would seem they would like to get them off partner flights.
