United just dropped the hammer! They are changing 1K rules for 2019, and OF COURSE NOT for the better!!

http://mileageplusupdates.com/

This looks good - BUT IT IS NOT! I know. As a 1K for many years now, GS loved their special boarding time, now they are watering down GS. As of September 18, 2018, Premier 1K® members are called to board during pre-boarding and Premier Gold members now board in Group 1.

This is bad - GS (which stands for God Status - I KNOW I KNOW), will not be happy that their God Status is being sullied with the riff raff. I have been hearing it from my GS friends already. If you have flown recently between hubs, like I do often, the 1 line, is longer than the 3 or 4 lines. How ill this help ANYONE???

Effective January 1, 2019, the Premier® qualifying dollars (PQD) requirement for Premier 1K® status will be raised from $12,000 to $15,000.

We’re adjusting qualification requirements for Premier 1K status with the goal of offering our most appealing program benefits to our most loyal customers and making these benefits, such as upgrades, more easily available.

Effective for the 2019 program year, we’re changing the way you earn upgrades that are in addition to the upgrades you earn with Premier® 1K® status. For every 25,000 Premier qualifying miles (PQM) or 30 Premier qualifying segments (PQS) after you qualify for Premier 1K status, we’ll add one Global Premier Upgrade into your account. We will no longer offer additional Regional Premier Upgrades for flight activity after qualifying for Premier 1K status.

So - overall, they are once again, pushing the envelope and making it harder and harder to be 1K, while watering down the overall value - BRAVO United!!!
and I thought gold was hard...

my post from a few hours ago about the new group boarding
I for one am not a fan.

just this week while boarding a 1k member shouted at me for "cutting" the line when i boarded before group 1, he made a scene and an agent had to calm him down. i guess he got the last laugh.
when UA had groups 1-5 Gold & 1k boarded together, I always thought that wasn't fair. i don't think this is the right solution but they didn't ask me lol.

and I thought gold was hard...
lol

great news for Gold/Silver members 2/3x70lb!

I just transferred Marriott points to United to take advantage of the bonus as described by Dan here: https://www.dansdeals.com/points-travel/milespoints/united-30-hotel-transfer-bonus-transfer-60k-marriott-points-35750-united-miles/

I realize now that Dan seems to be indicating that the regular Marriott points should show up in the normal amount of time, but the bonus points won't arrive until January.

Am I reading this wrong?

Correct. That has been my experience as well with previous transfer promotions. Transfer more now if you need it for a redemption.

If I flew the correct amount of miles to reach Premier Silver for 2019 but most of them were on partner flights, anything ( besides for flying more) that I can do before the end of 2018 to achieve the status?

The website is saying I need to spend 3,000 towards United or spend 25,000 on my United Credit card.

Getting back to this. In order to achieve Silver I really need to fly 4 segments solely on United not on partner? Any way around this one?

Thanks. Going to wait and see when the Marriott points come through, I can always instant transfer from Chase for the difference.

Just hoping it comes through before the 72 hour hold they gave me expires.

As expected, the rebate did not come through so I had to make up the difference with UR.

After 6 days of waiting and begging UA to continue to hold my seats, Marriott agreed to an expedite request and the points came through a few hours later.

Thanks. Guess I need to also get better at using the search bar, I just put the acronym in there and that's all it came up with.

Need to search from the forum homepage. If you search in a thread or board it only searches said thread or board.
