What's the benefit?

Used to only get a free checked bag on flights that the 1st leg is operated by united, now they also include other airlines

OkI couldn't see that part.
But I think that most flights booked with THOSE Airlines include a bag in the fare.

trying to complete my 1k status match and I estimate after my required 18 flights, I will still be approximately $1500 PQP short of my required $6000,  can I just add $1500 to my travel bank and that will count toward my PQP? any other ideas on how to make up the PQP shortfall?

I am basic economy but had an agent who was nice enough assign me seats. My wife and I are 1&2 and our minor children are 3&4. Of course once we are on the plane one of the adults will sit in 7c but will the system automatically kick out my daughter before hand because she is a minor on her own row?
I don't want to loose the seat and the system won't allow me to switch it. I also tried calling again but the agent said there would be a fee if she were to manually switch us

right- i did not think that would work-    but it doesnt say travelbank works either...  so what are my options?  just buy first with sapphire reserve/ amex biz platinum?

I would not be concerned. It is considered adjacent and that is why the system assigned it to you that way.

Try to upgrade your future flights or refare to a more expensive fare

with united mileage plus upgrade awards, you have the option to wait-list business and premium.

I am a month before the flight and I see 1 premium seat opened for upgrade, but mine didn't clear [yet], does that only happen right before flight if business didn't clear, or should that clear now [and I still stay on business waitlst] ?

and assuming it is meant to clear and hasn't, will calling in help ?
