While I have a united card, and I want to fly united and get the benefit of the baggage ,is there anyway for myself and a partner to fly while getting the extra baggage but pay with another cc?
What small charge can I put on a paid flight to trigger the extra baggage?
And would I need to have my friends ticket booked by me? Or can I combine the tickets after he pays to get free baggage?
 TIA.

Any chance I can fight for my free baggage after I pay?
Always thought first bag free and where it's offered 1st bag 2nd is free which is the 1st bag.

And that's what's my $95 is for!  :(
 Oh well.

I guess the card is worthwhile for those bookings you do with your miles(which gives you better rates and expanded availability, and for domestic flights getting you a free baggage.
(I do remember seeing there's an option to buy a pass to get free 2nd bag with all your booking for $395 and gets up to 8 companions free 2nd bag as well, if I fly that often I guess it would be worth it.)

Will make a few phone calls and hope for the best..

A) A few phone calls won't make you eligible for second bag free. They're pretty upfront about what the benefit does and doesn't cover.

https://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/travel/baggage/chasebag.aspx

International travel: Explorer Cardmembers and Cardmembers with certain other MileagePlus Chase Credit Cards will not get an additional free checked bag if there is no first checked bag service charge applicable to their international travel itinerary.

B) I don't know what better mileage redemption rates for cardmembers you're talking about. Cardmembers have expanded access to the same saver and standard rates that everyone has.

Supposedly while having a chase united card when booking an award ticket the rates are better and more awards available.

Did the same person who told you that you'll get a free second bag tell you about these better rates?

 That's for the United card.
I don't have read the article to tell you that it says that cardholders get expanded access to saver and standard award rates, but it doesn't say that they have access to different rates.

You have access to more saver award space but not to any difference in rate (unless you're referring to the difference between a standard award and a saver award that is only available to cardmembers.)

I am being compensated for a Y ticket and J is only $100 more for lie flat one way. How can I go about ticketing my flight in Y and then booking J?

no fare restrictions for RPUs so yes it can be added to T class.
Also if it's coming from a GS account it can be applied to award tickets as well.
