I got an email from United saying that if I book a hotel with "rocketmiles" by 10/31 I can get 3k miles, and then 1-10k additional depending on the hotel. Anyone familiar with this?
I did it.. Got 5000 points..

United wants $200 to cancel a rewards ticket.
Is there any kind of workaround that will avoid this fee, or at least lower it?

Any help will really be appreciated.

Not if you don't have any status, but can try huca a little to find a good reason why you had to cancel and maybe they will waive it.

No schedule change?
There's no saver awards for those dates.

I believe he's asking if the flight schedule hasn't changed, if it did, that might help to get the fee waived.

I'm about 500 miles short of 70k for the award I need. I can transfer more from chase once my statement closes, but that's not for a coupla weeks. How much would it cost to pay cash for the balance?

You can change your Chase statement date.

Good idea, I was thinking about that. If it's minimal cost to purchase those 500 miles, I would consider not going through the hassle...

I have 35k miles with United. Are they worth anything? Does United allow points to be transferred to different programs?

And the answer to the second question is of course no. :)
Airlines sending me "We're in this together" emails.

Bruh, where were you when my suitcase weighed it 51.50 pounds?

Any current way to hold award using United? Flights all on partners - not enough miles, all I see is an option to "continue and add miles" with a $750 option to purchase some extra miles.

Am I missing something?

United only allows gold members lounge access when traveling internationally... If someone is going tlv-ewr-ord, will they allow lounge access in EWR before flight to ord?

I booked a flight and made plans and now they tell me that Swiss (the middle segment of the flight) won't ticket it. What can I do now? Am I totally screwed? There's nothing else available on that day.

I don't want the refund. I want the flight.

I sponsored an upgrade using my GPUs for a round-trip flight that was supposed to take place this month.  The GPUs cleared and all legs were confirmed upgraded.

The trip was cancelled but I have not seen the GPUs redeposited to my account.

Then I read this on the United website:

Quote
https://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/mileageplus/premier/swupgrades.aspx

In most cases, the Global Premier Upgrade will be considered used if any segment of an itinerary is upgraded or flown. However, for travel which includes segments in United BusinessFirst or United Global First, the Global Premier Upgrade will be re-deposited if the United BusinessFirst or United Global First segment(s) could not be upgraded.

So if the upgrade was confirmed when requested, it is still considered used if the flight is cancelled?
