Make sure to try the UA close-in trick.
If I end up taking that flight will surely true to bypass it..
 Will probably pay $93 vs 12.5k.. ;)

United Mileage Plus is offering 500 miles if you sign up for their dining program, and an additional 1000 miles if you make a 25 dollar purchase at a participating location. Don't know if this has been posted already, haven't read much on the up-in-the-air section. sorry if it's a repost

Was around in the past, but seems to be targeted again for certain card holders..

I never added him, so he doesn't have a card yet in his name, only his siblings name. Was hoping on the reservation it would work!

ETA; I found for $93 a one way paid flight which I think I will beh take!
Wish I can book on ba, I have so many avios sitting not knowing what to do with them!

Below in the picture you can see this united flight is operated by air Canada! Will I still be able to get a free bag as I'm booking through united while having the mileage Explorer card? And is it like that always when they fly on another carrier you can't choose online your seats unless I go on air Canada's website or call?
this a regular ac flight not a united codeshare

is it still possible to avoid UA award close-in fees by booking out and then adjusting the date? or did they fix this loophole post the last website overhaul?

They Charged me the close in booking fee when I switched my ticked from a month out to next week within 24hrs.
I called them up and asked them why I was charged and she said its a mistake and they'll refund me.. dont know if that'll actually happen or not. we'll see

Will UA accept pregnancy as a reason for refunding the $75 cancellation fee for a TPE-JFK award?

They supposedly closed it up the loophole, but you can definitely try with a phone call to have them waive the fee as they have done that for many people I know.
So YMMV, and a phone call which doesn't hurt.
