How do I get the most value out of my United miles? They seem like pretty lousy value, many times less than a penny a mile. TIA!

Must be within 30 days of departure, I assume?? Can you change the flight instead of redeposit? No change fees

its a basic economy ticket, according to dan's chart it seems like there is no waiver?

did you try changing it online to 30 days out for free and then cancelling?

It says very clearly- that is for tickets purchased after the end of Covid 19 waivers. Otherwise the fee is waived as long as it is not within 30 days of departure. So as @lakewood34 posted- maybe try changing it to beyond 30 days and then cancel and redeposit it (assuming now it's within 30 days)

I just modified my comment to add that link. I don't think he disagrees with me if you pay partially but if he does, I definitely defer to him!!

over there he's talking about using a travel voucher not the chase portal, in fact in that comment section is where someone asks my question and Dan says, no. I left a link

Yes, apparently (based on what Dan says) I was mistaken. I answered too quickly. Sorry

united had several routes with wide open saver availability in coach to lax phx and the like for 15k 14.5k etc, they have now wiped it all out by charging 100 miles more, they now show 15.1 and 14.6 etc....

I'm having a hard time trying to find out how much points is required if when booking Y and upgrd to P/Z etc. when i search UA advanced search and choose MUA as upgrd type and entering Y as fare class, the results bump back to low class ( K, T ..) + miles required but it wont show me Y + miles needed.

Anyone ?
